What do you enjoy about the work you do?
It is not what I "enjoy", but what I LOVE! What "I love" most about the work I do is making my clients' vision about their events come to fruition along with the lasting relationships that develop as a result of our working together. I love details; they are majestic! …and it is essential that they are affectionately catered to, and this is where I employ my detail orientation. Every successful event is crafted in the details, which if not meticulously handled will reap unprofitable results. Since I am results driven, my clients can be assured that their events will be successfully executed (with me).
I absolutely love it when my clients fully put their trust in my profession, and become just as excited about their event as I am planning it. Most of all, I love to hear my clients tell me that “although the event was a week, month, or year ago…their guests are STILL talking about it”! I want my clients and their guests to experience my “Classy and Fabulous” brand as I take great pride in creating an experience of a lifetime!
How does your service / work stand out from others who do what you do?
My service / work stand out from others who do what I do because not only do I strive to demonstrate my "Classy and Fabulous" brand, I make it my priority to connect with my clients in an effort to accurately assess what each of them wants / needs. While every clients' needs is different, ultimately, they all expect a phenomenal service, which I deliver. As the service provider, it is my responsibility to properly educate every client on all the intricate details that will masterfully come together to ensure a successful event!
Unlike many other service providers, I have designed service packages to include save-the-dates, invitations, standard programs, and unlimited access to me (no extra charge). Lastly, I am always in favor of my clients' best interests with vendors! Thus, I never compromise their satisfaction for my gain.
What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
The one question customers most commonly ask me is, "How much do you charge?" My answer to this question is often...It depends on the package / needs of the client. Every client is different; likewise, the needs are different. Although my packages / services are outlined on my site: http://www.venisisclassyandfabulous.com/services, I still tailor each package to the clients’ needs.
If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
If I were a customer, which I had been (when planning my own wedding), I wished I had known more about having a wedding planner who was skilled in negotiating with vendors (for me). Although I had TWO planners, neither of them helped me in this regard! Wedding planners (in my opinion) should know how to develop (and have developed) relationships with trusted vendors in the industry. The inside secret that I have learned and wish to share is this, "Please be sure that the wedding planner that you hire has established relationships with trusted vendors"! ...as he / she will be able to negotiate pricing (in your favor), and should NOT take any kickbacks for doing so IF they are truly about your best interests! Most of the time, vendors want / need your business; thus, they will negotiate a favorable outcome to satisfy potential clients.
What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
The advice that I have for a customer who is looking to hire a provider like me...is take your time and assess each provider. I know there will be intervals where time is of the essence; however, the provider you select SHOULD be all about YOU! ...and what it is that you want / need. Your vision for your event is important, and the provider you select should make every effort to make it possible. Although a good provider will offer suggestions, and keep you apprised of proper etiquette, he / she should NOT implement those suggestions WITHOUT your consent. Moreover, if the provider that you hire appears to be planning the event according to how he / she thinks it ought to go, is not listening / understanding what you need / want, and is not taking your concerns seriously....FIND another provider!
If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
For anyone who wanted to get into my profession, I would suggest that he / she MUST be organized, detailed-oriented, flexible and able to handle multiple priorities at once with ease; likewise, he / she MUST be able to work under extreme pressure and develop a really good POKER FACE! I would also suggest that he /she is….or learns to become...thick skinned; this business is NOT for those who typically take things personally, are sensitive in nature, or who cannot handle getting their feelings hurt. Should the aforementioned happens, you still MUST maintain a PROFESSIONAL demeanor at all times!
Do you have a favorite story from your work?
Haha!! My favorite story from my work is when I brought my own food to a client's event. When I asked the client about why provisions were not made for me, as they were for the other vendors, the client became indignant with me. Although, I did not let this deter me from typing, cutting and assembling 150 menu cards for the client (without charge) for the wedding reception, I resolved to purchase my own meal and took it with me. While everyone else was in the ballroom dining, I was on the other side of the partition, eating alone. Hahaha!!! Because I pride myself on maintaining a standard of professionalism, my services remained "classy and fabulous". In fact, I received many compliments from guests on a job well done!
Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
The most common types of jobs I do for my clients include wedding planning / coordinating or party planning where I do hair / make-up; invitations; save-the-dates; tracking RSVPs; designing programs for the event; menu cards (if applicable); seating charts and I also construct / review budgets and STICK to the budget.
